How To Pick A Wedding Venue
Picking your wedding venue is going to be one of the biggest decisions you are going to have to make when planning your wedding. The venue can make the wedding one of the more memorable ones that your guests will attend. You know that the wedding is supposed to be all about you and your new spouse. Yet, we all want the event to be really memorable for all the guests.
The venue is going to make a statement about your wedding. Some people will opt for the ultra simple local banquet hall. Others will want the most luxurious setting available locally. Still others will want the wedding ceremony to take place outdoors in a beautiful garden or perhaps near a body of water. Your wedding venue should match the one you have pictured in your dreams.
Take the weather into consideration for the time of year you are having the wedding. Take your budget into consideration too. It is likely that there will be several really nice places that are simply not in your budget.
Historical Buildings:
Historical buildings can make for an exceptionally lovely and stately wedding reception. The one problem that you often run into with historical landmark buildings is that the size of the rooms can be too small for all the guests to fit in. When that happens the guests can be split into multiple rooms. This takes away from the magic of the moment. I recommend you choose a venue where every guest can be in the same room during the entire party. That way nobody misses anything.
Banquet Halls:
Banquet halls are perfectly suited for wedding receptions. Find one that is big enough and has the right ambience that you are seeking. Most of the banquet halls will allow outside catering so that you can choose the perfect caterer. You should double check that though. You might find that they only allow certain caterers to host events there.
Most banquet halls will have large dance floors. They also tend to have well arranged spaces where the bar is separate enough from the main activity area so as to not interfere with the planned itinerary. Banquet halls are constructed primarily to host large parties. Therefore, just about everything you would want for your wedding is likely to fit well with a good banquet hall.
Outdoor Wedding Venues:
I have been to more than one gorgeous outdoor weddings under a large white tent. They are elegant especially at night. A well lit tent provides a surprisingly romantic setting.
The downsides to outdoor weddings are numerous though. You have the weather to contend with. Even with a tent, it will still be uncomfortable if it rains or if the temperature is extreme one way or the other. Bugs will be unwelcome guests when your food is exposed. There are things that guests can trip over, especially after they have spent an hour or two at the bar.
When you go to look for the right venue for your wedding, keep your budget in mind. There will be some places that you can cross off your list immediately because of costs. There will also be some places that are already booked during the time frame you are looking to get married. Start your search early as the better places will book up well in advance. Happy hunting.
